Global Vipassana Pagoda

A 325-feet high Dhamma monument built on Gorai Island, Mumbai, India, to share the tangible benefits of Vipassana meditation - the universal, non-sectarian practice to remove deep-rooted harmful habit patterns of the mind. One lives with equanimity, true happiness and goodwill for all beings.

Acknowledged as one of the modern-day Seven Wonders of the World, the Vipassana Pagoda contains the world's largest stone dome without supporting pillars. This Dhamma Hall - the world's largest meditation hall - can seat more than 8,000 Vipassana students in group meditation and refresher one-day courses.

Adjacent is the Dhamma Pattana Vipassana centre with residential 10-day Vipassana courses. As in this tradition worldwide, no fees are charged. The residential Vipassana courses are offered free of cost, including boarding and lodging.

The Global Vipassana Pagoda was inaugurated by the President of India on February 8, 2009.

Visiting the Global Pagoda is free of charge. No entry fee, and for tour guides.

Timings: 9.00 am - 7.00 pm, all days of the week.

Global Vipassana Pagoda, Mumbai. Infinite Gratitude to all beings who preserved Vipassana in purity
"Awake O people of the world...The dark night is over. The light of Dhamma is glowing... The dawn of happiness." The Global Vipassana Pagoda is a replica of the Shwedagon, Rangoon, Burma. This is in infinite gratitude to those noble meditators in Burma who preserved Vipassana for millennia, long after it was lost in the Dhamma land of its origin, India
